Well, What can I say?  Newton Heath flyball teams have now competed for the first time! And boy what a competition!

Great News!

Swell Pets have agreed to sponsor Newton Heath DTC new Flyball Team!  They have already experienced the rush of their first competition and by all accounts went extremely well!

Crufts 2010

Furniture retailers DFS have agreed to be the principal sponsors for Crufts 2010.

Kennel Club chairman Ronnie Irving said: “This exciting development will enable us to make sure the event is better than ever.  Dog shows illustrate a great way to encourage and reward the breeding of healthy dogs - and also provide a platform for all dog lovers to come together and ensure we give our dogs happy, healthy lives.”

As you know its that time of year when we should be seeing a lot of sun.  Well we have been luckily enough we have had some lately and it has been very hot.  There has been the tragic accident of the 2 police dogs left in the car and sadly died and many more reports of dogs collapsing from heat exhaustion.

We all love our fury four legged friends, and yes sometimes we do think of them as our babies!  We all know we shouldnt but we do!

Well, if they could send us a mothers day card, maybe it would read something like this

We all like to give our dogs little treats here and there, but there are some treats which can be harmful to our dogs.  We have listed some household dangers below that can be harmful to your dogs.

Chocolate

There is an ingredient in chocolate called Theobromine.  For dogs that suffer from epileptic seizures this ingredient can cause heart problems and may even lead to a heart attack.  Chocolate as a rule is not good for dogs and should be avoided at all times.

Sort the flash out mum!

I love all this weather we’ve been having. My mum has been taking me to play in it everyday.

She throws snowballs for me to catch which is fun but I do prefer my ball - even though  sometimes when it’s thrown too far it gets lost under the snow! My mum says ‘what’s the point having a dog if you have to fetch the ball yourself?’ I don’t know WHAT she means!

Its me again Brodie.  I see my sister has beaten me to it.  Trouble is she doesn’t realise when you get to my age you need a nap after a walk, she will soon learn.  Well have you seen the snow??  Its brilliant, we were playing for hours this morning.  Skye doesn’t understand what a snow ball is though, she spent ages looking for it when my mum through it for us.  Don’t laugh at my coat I had to wear, it did keep me warm and dry.  I have added a picture of me as well so you can see my coat.

We’ve been looking around the Internet to identify what appears to be the most popular petfood at the moment. Of course this wasn’t intensive research into pet food and no animals were harmed during the compilation of this list.

We’ve all heard of Weightwatchers and Slimming World but did you know about the PDSA Pet Fit Club?

The PDSA (People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals) provides free veterinary services for the pets of needy owners in the UK and since 2005 has held an annual pet slimming competition which is designed to provide owners with the help and information they need to help their pets lose weight.

The numbers of Christmas pets being abandoned in 2007 is on the decrease but there are still many dogs, puppies and cats at rescue centres and animal shelters across the UK in need of homes and that could rise in a few months when owners become tired of their new festive pet.
